After graduating from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, Dr. Ehlert completed his intership and residency training in internal medicine at St. Luke's-Roosevelt, a Columbia hospital, and his cardiology and electrophysiology fellowship training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.  Upon completion of his training, Dr. Ehlert returned to New York and has been on the Columbia faculty since 1993.  From 1993 through 2006, he was at St. Luke's-Roosevelt.  In 2006, he joined the staff of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and became the Program Director of the Electrophysiology Fellowship at Columbia. 

Dr. Ehlert's areas of expertise include sudden cardiac death, pacemaker and defibrillator therapy, and chronic device and lead explanation.  He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and book chapters in electrophysiology and presented his original research at scientific meetings.  He has been active in Columbia HeartSource since 2007, establishing its electrophysiology QA practice and is currently its Director of Physician Development.
